The Celtic Wedding

Barbie MacDee and Ken McDiddle met and fell in love at Virginia Tech. He was an engineering student from Boston whose sole living parent lived for professional basketball. She was a Theater Arts major descended from Scottish immigrants who had settled many generations ago in nearby Roanoke County.

Their beautiful ceremony, on top of Bent Mountain, included handfasting, a bagpiper, the works.  His dad, who had been very excited at the prospect of a Celtic Wedding, was only momentarily bummed when he discovered that sports were not involved. Then, he got his Second Wynde and sang sea shanties late into the night along with Jim the Piper and the band.
