Southern Foodie Love

One cool September evening, Barbara Kingsley met Ken Quesenberry at Billy Bob’s Ribs. She was scouting new ideas and inspiration for her lifelong dream. He was just hungry. The place was packed and there was only one table for two. They shared their dinners and their aspirations.

“So, what do you do?” she said.

“I’m a bean counter,” he said. “And you?”

“I’m a bean and biscuit baker and coleslaw and barbeque maker. Chicken and ribs too, of course. What do you think? Are these sweet enough? Too sweet?”

“No,” he said, not talking about the beans, “Just right.”

He invited her to the movies. The following Friday, she invited him home for dinner. He had never tasted ribs so good. And her cornbread was amazing! Before long, they decided to join their lives and talents. With his business know-how and her culinary skills, they built the Barbie Q Family Restaurant. And with their love, they built a family.
