I Spy a Floyd County Wedding

Barbara Joan Pierce owned eight different passports and a Beretta. One night in Monte Carlo she was playing blackjack when a devilishly handsome man shot her a look across the table and tapped his temple with his thumb. The secret signal. It must be her contact. She collected her winnings and walked outside. He followed. She could hear his footsteps behind her and she turned to face him.”And you are?”

“Dohhl…Ken Dohhl.”

SHHH sent them undercover to Floyd County VA to discover what had caused peace to break out between the hippies and the locals, because of possible international implications. Neither one wanted the assignment to ever end. It was way too much fun being together and the spy thing was getting pretty old.

They turned in their report. Peace occured not because of poison gas or brainwashing or diabolical social experimentation on unsuspecting citizens. It was the result of parents cheering together for the kids at sports events, those same kids marrying each other, and then having their own kids.

The whole scene looked good to Ken and Barbie. They traded in their Aston Martins for a Subaru wagon, a Prius, and a Christmas tree farm.

With a lovely outdoor wedding they began their new life. But once a year, on New Year’s Eve, after the kids have gone to bed, Barbie and Ken put on their fancy evening wear and slow dance by the fireside.
